GRAPEVINE DISEASES – One of the trickiest parts of being a good grape grower is learning to deal with grapevine diseases. How do you recognize and create a plan to stop an emerging problem in the backyard vineyard? From powdery mildew to bunch rot, professional vineyard manager Wes Hagen will tackle some of the major diseases a small scale vineyard might face as well as strategies to control problems and hopefully even avoid them in the first place.
WES HAGEN received his training from the University of California at Davis extension program. He is the Vineyard Manager and Winemaker for Clos Pepe Vineyards in Santa Barbara County, California, where he grows Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for a number of wineries, including his own.
